Jay honoured with the 2017 BMI President's Award!

On Monday, October 9th, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) awarded our fearless leader, frontman, lyricist and musical cat (with many, many hats), Jay Kay, with the prestigious BMI President’s Award at the 2017 BMI London Awards at Britain’s Dorchester Hotel in London.

As an internationally-celebrated musician and songwriter, Jay’s career has spanned three decades. He was awarded for his “originality, which has inspired generations of musicians and fans alike”, as described by BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill, who presented Jay with the award, before Jay joined the band for an acoustic rendition of “Love Foolosophy” and “Space Cowboy.”

He thanked his fans, family and all those who supported him over the years, including Jamiroquai founding member and co-writer Toby Smith. Upon accepting the award Jay said: “I’m very happy to receive this award tonight; it’s been 30 years since I began a career in music, and I’m lucky to still be able to do my thing and express it through songs. There’s still no better buzz really, than starting off with that ‘thing’ in your head and letting it get to the stage where you hear it on the radio, in front of loads of people, all over the world; it’s a real privilege.”

Congratulations once again, boss man!
